Supercharger+Gears???

I am going to be strapping on a Vortech V-2 next month and was also going to put 4.10 gears on next week. I have heard that 4.10's are no good unless you stay n/a. I was hoping that I could get some real life info on this and not just hear say. Thanks for the help guys!

I had a '01 with a vortech years ago and I ran 3.73's. Was a good combo. I was getting out of first around 25mph shifting at 5500 rpm I think, it's been a while.

I would recommend no more than a 3.90 gear with 8+lbs through a centri blower. 4.10s will work on the street with a good tire...but not very good for the track unless you run ET Drags.

do you remember what kind of times you were running with that set-up? was it a cobra or GT?

I never got the chance to take it to the track. I put it on in November and lost my job 2 months later and I had to sell the car. It was a GT. I figured I would have seen mid - upper 12's with stickys.

FYI: It's not easy to sell a car with a blower on it. I took a BIG loss. Make sure you plan on keeping it for a while...

The real disadvnatage with the 4.10s on the track is that you can run out of gear in 4th and have to shift into 5th, which costs you ET and MPH.

Depending on whp numbers you make, it will probably be hard to hook up on the street. With 3.73s, and 420 WHP I was having problems with traction even with the 315 nittos until I got some suspension work done.

All you need to do is have your rev-limiter bumped up a bit. I go through the traps @ 118mph with 26" tires and 4.10's @ 6200rpm. I also have 423rwhp and 550rwtq and have no traction problems...it's all in the set-up[8D]

RE: Supercharger+Gears???

ok, thanks for the advice. I think I will just get the lt headers put in and then the s/c. Get a feel for it before I decide on gears. I will probubly get over 500 hp so you are right I might run out of gears.

Unless it's an auto, stick with 3.73's with a 5 speed. Mine works good for me. Now after 120 you run out of gear. It seems to push the limit there, but who does 120 all the time, lol.
