Default Roll cage?

I just wanted to see your guys opinions on roll cages for my type of car. It is s/c'd, pi intake, and i plan to run eventually 400rwhp. Do you think it would be a good idea to get a 6 pt. roll cage? Or do you think it would be stupid comsidering i dont have a "race car"? If you think it would be a good idea, what cages do people go with? thanks

For IHRA/NHRA tracks, an 11.99 1/4 or over 120mph trap requires a 4pt roll bar on coupes..

I would get a shop to do a custom one personally. I had some issues with the prefabbed bar I put in... and Im sure installing one in a coupe would be even more of a pain in the ***.. cant exactly put the top down to set it in place and measure, etc. It shouldnt be that much to have a shop do it.. 200 or so for materials on either a 4pt or 6 pt, and maybe another 200 for labor. And with a shop doing it, they can custom fit it where you want it.. if you want the down bar on the 6pt to follow the line of your seat they can bend it that way, where most prefabs just come straight out.

Just my opinion.. but if I have down bars to create a 6pt out of my 4pt bar, I will defiantly have a shop custom do it for me.

I am going with a 6 point sometime in the future. I've talked to some shops around, and they can make removable door bars, so you can put them on when you want to go to the track.

i would spend the money elsewhere...because dont you need a roll cage at the track only if you have a vert ?? but yeah plus no point in doing that in a coupe =P

You have to have a cage in anything that goes faster than 12.0 or 120mph. I think the 1/8 mile time is 7.50 and 95.

So you go to the track, run a 11.99, and you are done.
