Default The return spring on my throttle body

The other day I was working no fixing a bad electrical connection and part of the process to get to this connection I took off my throttle body, including the spring. Well, I forgot to put it back on and I drove down the street and my car felt Stronger, quicker, and sounded better. My question is what is the purpose of this spring and will leaving it off damage my engine?

Discuss.

It might haveleft the blade in the tb open longer giving your engine more air/revving higher? I think all it does is help pull it back. One of the lines is cruise control too i believe

There is a possibility, perhaps slim, that the throttle could stick open without the return spring--all that's left is to close the throttle is the clockspring on the butterfly shaft. I'd put it back on, any perception that the car is faster/stronger/etc. is just that--a perception because you're using less force on the accelerator...

It should be connected straight to your throttle body....it's just a spring.
