the 5.4 is a 302 bored .30 over with a 3 1/4 in. stroke
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 5.4 has the same bore as a 4.6 and a longer stroke. They use the same heads. A 302 is a pushrod engine with one cam total located in the valley between the heads. The 4.6 and 5.4 have either 2 or 4 cams and they are located 1 or 2 over each cylinder head.

Whatever magazine you read that out of is mistaken but I think you are just talking out of your POOPAR
First guy way wrong, ASUSMC way right.

Do a 6.1 V-12 from an aston martin. That'll keep you pretty happy. . .

isnt the 5.4 a 3 or 4 v
You can do a 2,3,4v. It's kinda up to your budget. You can make a 331 stroker out of the 302's but that's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about the OHC engine.

relax i thought the same thing too, but the 331 stroker that 5.0s commonly do is also a 5.4 so he might have gotten confused

As you've read, the 5.4 is a 4.6 with a longer stroke... The longer the stroke the more stress is put on the rotating assembly with RPM.

4.6 4v > 5.4 2v... There's my suggestion, spend money on swapping a DOHC in instead of a 5.4... You'll have more power and torque... the weak link in these engines is the heads, they just don't flow... increasing displacement still leaves you trying to suck more air through the 2vheads which don't flow enough for a 4.6, let alone anything bigger.
5.4l 4v wins all.. lols, I always thought that they were the same just with a longer stroke.
