To keep it simple, overdrive makes it so that you ride at lower rpms. The imput from the engine spins slower than te output from the drive wheels. It helps with gas, but isn't really a "performance" item, just turn it off before a race. It's like a cruising thing.

Leave it on all of the time, it makes no difference either way.

Turning "O/D off" just prevents the transmission from shifting into 4th gear. The transmission is electronically controlled so toggling this makes no difference. It's like saying turning the traction control off gives you more power over 50 mph

Hah... Yeah that takes a lot of power though, even with my stock bald tires back in the day with the 100 shot and a fresh bottle, if I powershifted 3rd as hard as I could and kept on the spray I could get a pretty good spin out of it, but not since the new tires

I turn off OD in traffic so it doesn't go through the gears as much and it doesn't drive me nuts in the process. I would love to sports shift, but I don't want to "drop" the transmission.

Oh and tunnels...hehe. I make sure I leave a wide gap in front of me and then floor it. Sounds like rocket going off...

I guessing its the same bezel (mt and at) so they don't have to use separate ones. ($$$)
