Default please answer sooonnnn!!!!

Hi guys. My brother has a 2000 gt, and is replacing pads and rotors. The rotors are on, but he cant compress the cylinder enough to fit them over the pads. The rotors and pads are spec. size.

We used clamps and could not get them to retain their position?

What do we doooo???

thanks all!

The front I used a c clamp on mine but the rear you need a tool to spin the piston while you push it. They have them at any auto store.

..i tried turning the piston clockwise like the haynes manual says but it wont move in at all. and the C clamp wont compress it either. this is the rear calipers if we didnt mention it. fronts compressed like butter.

thanks!

did you use the old pad in between the clamp and piston, you do this to apply an even force.

The front pistons should just compress using a C clamp. The rear ones need to be screwed back in. They have a tool at autozone for 10 bucks. You can also be cheap like me a use a pair of needle nose pliers to do it. Also take the cap off of the brake fluid resevoir, as compressing the pistons back in will cause the level to rise.
