Where in Iowa do you live? I live in Davenport, around here cops dont say much as long as you have cats on. You could cut the mufflers completly off and get away with it.
I'm from Texas. I am running catless. I do have to worry about emissions, but I'm good on it though.

If you want the absolute loudest setup possible, get some custom open headers.

If you want to spend money, get some long tubes, o/r X, & LM1's
I never thought about open headers, that could be a good way to go.

maybe try an o/r x??? just a suggestion since im not a big fan of the loud mouths...
I really don't care for the x pipe sound. I would like to sound more like an old school muscle car than a nascar.

DONT RUN OPEN HEADERS! For one, its illegal. For two, it sounds like ***. And last but not least, you will more than likely LOSE power. Just add longtubes and your car will be louder and faster.

You have a Mac catback and O/R H and you want louder?

You could always go buy a Harley....
I have gotten to use to the sound. Plus, I am louder than the majority of the Harleys around here.

so if you have mufflers there is no need for cats???
cats are needed in states to pass the emissions, some states do not require emissions testing so you can get by without cats, mufflers help muffle the tone in the exhaust system
+1

cats for emissions to pass smog tests, mufflers for noise adjustment.

You already have 3' stainless tips with the Mac. If you got SLP you'll be getting 3.5' stainless tips. I would just have new mufflers put in as opposed to spending 450 bucks buying a whole new catback.
That was one thing I was thinking about, but the only SLP LM mufflers I have found have a 4.5" outlet, wouldn't that be too big for the system that is on there already? Or woulld a decent welder be able to fix that?

I really don't have the money though to buy longtubes and a new mid-pipe.

Plus I'm not really looking for speed, just sound.

Long tubes, X pipe, straight through mufflers. X pipes are louder than H pipes
