RE: cai causing blown engine???
Well it floods here in Tx where I live ALL the time when it rains and I have to drive through some deep water from time to time. My filter gets wet and so does the MAM and it throws the A/F ratio and turns the CE on. I just park mine and let it sit till it drys and reset the code with my OBDII scanner. I would imagine you could blow it if the A/F ratio is way off.

That happened to this one GT that was around here.....he took it back to Ford and they barely replaced the motor for him since the CAI was still in place when he took the car in. I never thought it could happen until I heard about that incident.

for starters a CAI isn't gonna get any water in it unless the car is actually driven under water. the cai is in the fenderwell and on the newer GT's at least theirs no way for water / rain to get in unless you cut the bottom out of the wheelwell (and even then its only water mist which wont hydrolock an engine). So the bottom line is that unless you physically drive in water that will put the CAI underwater (like over the top of the tires) then theirs no way to suck in water. I actually cut the bottom out of my fenderwell to get more cooler air to the filter, I've been in some serious rain and no problems - nor will their be any unless I go off-roading or get stuck in a flood and drive the car through water - in which case CAI or not you'd still hydroloc.
