My Pypes O/R x-pipe did the same thing. It wasnt hitting anything but was rattling at certain rpm's. So I tightened everything again and it was still there. Then one day it just kinda went away. Try taking it down and putting it back up. It could be the ball and socket piece.

Check for loose/bad motor mounts. Flexing under acceleration would can cause the exhaust to torque with the engine under WOT or a hard Take off and that 3/4" clearance may be disappearing.
