Sorry don't know what happened there, anyway....

I just bought my car with like 40,000 miles on it and changed the oil as soon as I got it home. I used the 5W20 Mobil 1 fully synthetic. I now have about 42,500 miles on it and have added a full quart to keep it up to full. Is this bad for my car to be using this amount of oil. I have checked and am sure there are no leaks. Should I be running a little thicker oil like the 5W30 because of my miles or what?

nah I'm pretty sure you are just fine. I have 100,000 on my 2001 and I never burn oil, I use the recommended amount of oil (i forgot what it is) and its all good. I use synthetic blend.

What year is your car, how much did you put in when you changed it? Ford changed the oil pan in mid-'01 and the engine oil capacity went from 5.0 to 6.0 quarts...

What?? I have been putting in about 5.7q's, I figured that the oil filter holds 1/4 quart or so. Am I putting in too much? By the way Mobil1 is good stuffI used to always use Castrol but have had bad experiances with it (not on this car). I have 86k miles and don't burn any, maybe your piston rings are wearing down[:-]
