Default MAP Sensor??

I was told this could also be a possible culprit in my "car sits there and sputters when i goose it" problem? The guy at autozone (knows his stuff actually) said his sons mustang had the same issue, and they too thought it was the fuel pump.

Is it possible its the MAP? if so, where is it located and what do i clean it with?

No MAP on a mustang! I don't think the guy knows his stuff!...lol There's something called the MAF (masss air flow) sensor. You shouldn't need to clean them. Spitting and sputtering is caused by crappy fuel, filter, clogged injectors or plugs and wires! If your computer hasn't thron any codes it's probably one of those problems! Don't clean something that's not broken or throwing codes!

Cleaning the MAF is a good idea. Throttle response issues can easily be tied to the TPS as well. Hook that beast up to a good scanner and find out what the computer is being told by its sensors. I found a temp sensor that was 30* off...not enough to throw a code, but enough to make a large difference in how it ran.

+1 on cleaning the MAF, just because it's not throwing a code doesn't mean it's working perfectly, hell i forgot to plug mineback in and it didn't throw a code [:-]

the safest way to clean it would be to spray the wires liberally with electrical contact cleaner and then let it dry off. it might not be the problem but it wouldn't hurt to try

we dont think its the MAF cause it takes the car half an hour of driving to start messing up, so its obviously from heating up or wear of... something. But yeah, it couldnt hurt to try. I gotta get the right part to get the screws out tho. But the cost of that, plus electrical contact cleaner, is prolly far cheaper than a new fuel pump. Ill hit up autozone tomorrow and get the **** i need. I got work today... [:@] its a bittersweet feelin.

The MAF doesn't need to warm up, the O2 sensors do, and they are warm in about 60 seconds to two minutes if you're driving it around...

true, but the o2 sensors arentthe problem, i think? [&:] Either fuel pump, or MAF. Mechanics said tps was fine, and the tranny was in great shape.
