it means the spark plug is firing before the piston reaches top dead center. the higher octane is needed because there in more time to burn the gas

i see, and how noticeable is the performance? and would this tune be safe and worth it on a stock 03 gt wit just exhaust done?

around me, 93 is already around 4 bucks a gallon and still rising.....something to consider...especially since you arent gonna gain that many ponies..... just my two cents......

yea i kno gas is insane but it's not a big concern for me tho. just want to kno what tuning to 93 would do for me?

yes it will help and i see you have an o/r mid pipe so the tuner you get will get rid of that CEL

Power gains will be there, but it isn't going to be a huge increase or anything, 5 or so WHP maybe.
running more octane on a n/a car with our stock low compression doesn't do that much.
