Default Installing steeda pullies myself

In about a week I'll have Steeda pulleys and want to know if I can install them myself or need to take them to a mechanic. I don't have any air tools.

Well you can do it with out air tools it just wont be all that fun. You can put the car in gear and get a big breaker bar. You will also need a large pulley puller. I used a steering wheel puller.

I did mine without air tools, and it was very hard to get the alternator pulley off. The install is pretty easy though, just that one bolt was a pain. Here's the link to a set of instructions: https://mustangforums.com/m_2144008/...tm.htm#2144008

I just installed mine today, and I don't have any air tools.

From what I've read, you WILL need an impact wrench to remove the alternator pully. However, you can do what I did. Remove the entire alternator (very easy), and take it over to Autozone, Pep Boys, etc. and have them remove the pulley with an impact wrench. They'll remove it and put the new one on for you free of charge.

The water pump is easy to remove, as long as you can wedge something against it to keep it from turning as you loosen the bolts.

For the crank pulley, use a breaker bar with an 18 mm socket (Auto Zone rents breaker bars). Make sure the car is in gear, eat your Wheaties, and be patient. That thing is really on there. Once the bolt is out, use a harmonic balancer puller to get the pulley off. Then, just follow the instructions that came with the pullies for installation.

I was VERY hesitant to do the pulley swap. It's something I've never done, and I didn't feel very confident. But, it really wasn't all thathard. Just do it.

I noticed a little bit of a difference in the upper RPM range. Not much, but a little.
