Default battery light flashing

while driving it will come on about ever 2 minutes and stay on for like 5 seconds

i've accidentally drained my battery a couple of times in the past by leaving my fogs on and some other reason i cant remember.

i think its my alternator though, because every time you drain the battery and get a jump, don't recharge the battery, the alternator has to charge the battery all the way from almost dead, on its own, thus working harder
thats why i think its the alternator
plus, while the car was running, i looked at the little bubble inside the battery, its still green, not red

i would like all of you all's opinions please.
thanks

when you say flashing, do you mean its kinda flickering, or it comes on and stays on for a few seconds and then goes out?

I had my alterantor melting at the connection post (on the alt) and it caused this problem, light would flicker for a few seconds and then go away for maybe 10 minutes, then repeat. The post on the alt melted down and was shorting to the alt frame.

Connection on alternator coming loose.

Had this happen to our V10 excursion. It got to the point after a couple of days where the light was constantly on, but it was still charging, it would flicker over bumps. The post on the alternator was scorched from arcing. After reconnecting it, all was well.

Also, my little bubbly thing on my battery is red... last year it wasn't even there... first year it was green. Still factory original battery [&:]No battery light problems with mine (except that time the belt broke).

its the alternator it needs to be replaced my dad just had that happen to him and he replaced the alternator and it shut off and hasnt come on since. also if it means anything to you i work at a dealer and we have had people come in with that problem alot expecally after storage but yeah 99.9% of the time it means its your altornator. and when its flashing means that, that is when the problem is occuring i might go as far as to say that it is getting worse as time gose on . you might want to replace that asap

I have a feeling the battery color thing is just bull, mine was red since I bought the car, and I only replaced it when the batt light started coming on (due to alt problem, didn't find it right away).

Pull the alt off and take it to a parts store, they can check it for you. Just a fair warning, I think it was like 160 bucks for a new one
