I figured they would be better than stock and it was a compromise. I did not want to spend extra for the matchingcat'd x pipe and throw mine away. I am not looking to change the sound. It sounds great right now with my Steeda exhaust. I just wanted to free up a few HP's and the ceramic coating looks better and will keep the heat down under the hood.

i know this isn't what you want to hear, but you'd be happier in the end if you returned the shorties. saved for a few more months or however long it takes, and get the long tubes + shorty midpipe. You'll at least know you've got the best on there, instead of just "something better than stock".

It's your car though, do what you think is best.

I know exactly what you are saying but I think in my situation, the difference between shorties and long tubes would be about 10-12 HP at the most. The cost would be another 700-800 and to me it wasn't worth it. I got the shorties now and just don't feel like sending them back. Thanks for the input. Pretty much what I thought.

Depends on your situation. I really wanted long tubes but I have a Steeda exhaust from the manifold back. I didn't install it but I know its only 2 years old. If I went with long tubes, I would have to remove my Steeda cat'd x pipe and buy a matching replacement to go along with the headers. Too much money both parts and labor. I figure I could put that money to better use in different mods.If you have a stock exhaust, go with long tubes. Shorties are probably better than stock but no match for long tubes.

just so you kno with the welds sandpaper wont do **** the grinding stone would be the way to go. but aslong as there is no weld spatter its not really gonna affect anything i wouldnt even see whythe spattter would do anything.

I hope you are kidding with the comment on the sound. Putting headers on almost any car will change the sound. Just an example going from a 1 3/8 exhaust manifold on a gt which i believe is stock too a 1 5/8 will change the noise for sure and much less restrictive. But shorties aren't the best for sure, but its worth it having them over stock exhaust manifolds, none the less. Good luck you will love the new sound for sure.

The weld splatter etc does look bad inside the pipe, but IMO its not going to effect performance. I left mine alone.
