Default Dirty Plenum

I took off my plenum last night to get it ported and polished, and it was freakin nasty. There was wet gritty crap all in there(looks like oil, but dosnt smell like it.) Anyone know what this is?

The guy that i took it to says that there would be no performance gain by p&p my plenum b/c its exactly 70mm(same as throttle body). Why would ford put a 70mm plenum w/ a 65mm tb? thanks

Yeah... same happened to mine. I just cleaned it out. Also... tell that guy that he doesnt know what he is talking about. A P&P job will average out to be about 5 hp give or take 3 I guess. Thats just like saying P&P heads wont help much. Any thing you do to allow the engine to breath better is gonna help it out a lot.

But he says that since its not smaller than the tb, it wouldnt matter. He says that if your tb is 70mm and your plenum is 75mm, it would still only take in as much as the tb would let in. that makes sense dosnt it?

dude... the whole purpose of porting it is to make it larger in size and to get rid of the screws that hang down in the path of the airflow and to polish it so the air has less resistence during the time of flow. He is full of **** and you should probably get your plenum back before he screws it all up bercause it doesnt sound like he knows what he's doing. In fact, print this out or give this guy my number and I will tell him the exact same thing.

the plenum is not 75. also it has a weird shape in side. the porting opens up volume and smooths the airflow. I never had a polished one on my car but I bought a C@L on mine and it made a nice diffrence. I even put the stock 65 back on to see what it did and it was still better than the stocker.

So you are saying to straighten out the bend in the plenum, not enlarge the entire thing, arent you. Or should i just get the whole damn thing cut out
