RE: Automatic Question.
or you could only spend a few hundred and just have a shop build your transmission with stronger parts. it costed my brother $100 to have his done but he was a relative of ours and he had one of the C4 trannys, but it should only be in the hundreds.

$100 dollars for a rebuilt tranny? where are these magical rebuilds taking place?? in candyland?? lmfao. you think "stronger parts" is all you need.... ok good luck with that. you get the stronger parts and leave the stock TC and no tranny cooler and we will see how it lasts. good luck

I agree with both of you, start with gears, stall, shift kit, tranny cooler. Then just get your current one rebuilt, which shouldn't be more than 300-500. Thats what my buddy did and his 500rwhp stang is holding up fine...

go to tccoa.com, click on the Tech Articles section, and read the Transmissions 101 stuff, chapters 7-12 I believe. Also, read up and do the j-mod.
A tranny rebuild will run you atleast $800, and you'll need a good stall converter (multi-disc). Count on another $850 for that....I recommend a DirtyDog converter. Also, a good cooler. I use the Fluidyne "9-pass" ($90'ish) and bypass the radiator altogether.
