Default shocks VS. Struts

What's the difference between shocks and struts and do mustangs use shocks or struts?
I have a 00GT.
Thanks,

A strut is a specialised shock absorber that is an actual suspension support member, a shock absorber is not a support member, it just dampens the motion (absorbs the shocks) of thesupport components.[/align]
