Default PROBLEMS with reverse

My 1999 Mustang is extremely hard to get reverse to engage, is this a common problem with my car if not are there any ideas on how to fix it?

Just push it into first gear and then reverse. Seems to work for me. Sometimes you have to let the clutch out slightly and then do it. I am not really sure why.

Theres no syncros for reverse like there is every other gear so it can be difficult to get into R sometimes. Either pump the clutch or go into 5th first and it should work fine.

+1 on first gear works for me everytime... also i find it easier to put it into gears when the car is off so put it in reverse before you turn the car on BUT don't forget that you have it in gear and take your foot off clutch, otherwise you stall and look like an a**, like i have done a couple of times haha

I wouldn't do that. The tranny fluid isn't running when the car is off, so if you play with the gears when it's off you could damage them. At least, that's what I've been told and it sounds right.

As for the problem at hand, everyone seems to have their own ways. My way is putting it into first, moving the car ever so slightly forward and then put it into reverse. What you need to do is get the tranny to line up right, so that seems to do the trick for me. Either that, or if you're on a hill you could let the car roll forward or backwards a bit and then put it into gear. Either one has worked for me, though. Hope this helps.

reverse is syncronized in the T-45 transmission....

personally, i think part of the problem is that the reverse gears are not straight cut so the helical reverse gear gets pushed out. Any gear would work to help get it in reverse. i perfer 5th just because there is no lock out and you can slide it straight back into reverse which is the fastest way. And if you go 5th to reverse you can slam it into reverse which works pretty well since these transmissions seem to like to be manhandled....
