your car will run best with the lowest octane that you can get away with without detonation. Basically what happens is the higher the octane the slower the burn, if your car doesn't need a higher octane you'll get better gains (if any) with a faster burining lower octane.

If you run a higher octane fuel then what your tuned for your car will actually run worse. You won't get a complete burn because of the slower burning fuel. Run 87 unless tuned for more.

My question is this weekend i have a set up race. i wanna give me a little bit of a edge on this car so i plan to buy 2 gallons of 110 octane. but i know i cant put it strait up in my car..

How many gallons of 93 octane should i mix in with 1 gallon of 110. I was thinking 3 gallons for every 1 gallon of 110 let me know what you guys think.

My car is a 2001 mustang GT it's auto with a tune my shift points are set and the car shifts incredible and it's faster than a stock mustang GT by 3 cars i also have a H pipe and im pretty sure there are other mods on my car cause of how quick it is. but again i just want that edge on this race. it's a race i dont wanna loose but if i do i wanna go down doing my best.
the real question is, who tuned it and with what, and to what octane? Most of the tunes out there are for premium fuel, so I would say run 93.

In any case, I can't see it makeing more than a 2-3 WHP difference even if that car was tuned to 87 and you were running 93.

lol the 93 isnt going to do anything but make detonation less likely, no hp gains
This is the ecact reason I run 93 Octane! Detonation is killer inside your engine and also in my ears! It also keeps your fuel system cleaner than 87 octane.

On the stock tune it will do absolutly nothing. There is a zero difference "clean" wise between 93 and 87... its the exact same gasoline with the only difference being the octane rating.

+1.

93 isn't cleaner either. The gas companies really have gimmicked 98% of the country into this. Just look at the names 87-regular 93-premium.
