so last night i was on the highway and my car made a popping noise and then started to sound like a harley kinda and it smells like fuel too . i know theres an issue that has to do with the heads and the sparkplugs. im thinking this is what happend because it seems theres an air leak on the head any help on this would be great. thanks

the way you describe it, I would guess exhaust leak...

I had a piece of crap 88 stang 4 cyl. and it blew a hole in the exhaust where one of the hangars rusted while I was on an off ramp. When it happened I was like what the HECK just happened...It did sound exactly like a Harley. Mieneke fixed it for like $10. Just a single weld.

Something very similar happened to my friends camaro recently, it turned out to be his fuel pump.

Sounds to me like you blew out a sparkplug

These 4.6s have a tendency to blow out spark plugs if improperly torqued. I've heard of more cases of this happening in the trucks, but then again its not unlikely if you have changed your own plugs before without being careful to tighten the plugs all the way down.

If a plug blew out you could heli-coil it. But if it was me, I'd get new heads.

so checked it this morning and yes a plug blew out.dont know what to do next can i use the same heads or will i need new ones? thanks

I would definitely recommend getting new heads... it sucks but you dont want to risk anything [sm=sigh.gif]
