If you have a complete kit with bearings, shims, seals, and all that, you should be good.

its a tool used by an installer to check backlash in the gears. That is the space or movement between the the ring gear and the pinion gear. How much will it move, before it starts to move the other gear. The dial indicator measures that distance of movement very finely I beleive the 100's or 1000's of an inch, I cant remember. But you would add shims to one side of the other to adjust the backalsh to get it into spec. He wont need it if hes not installing it. if he is installing it himself, he'll need something like it

this is a dial indicator http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT...MT4NO=27844938they're used to measure run-out typically. you'll need one of these to measure the backlash if your doing the install yourself.

don't forget the fluid!

yea im gonna be doin it with a buddy of mine. the speedo is gonna be messed up for another two weeks til i can buy a tuner, i cant spend all my money on the car unfortunately....... just a good chunk. I just got the axles replaced back in march, and when they did that they replaced the bearings too, so i think itll be ok.
