Default Racing stearing Wheel

Has anyone put a racing style or aftermarket stearing wheel on there sn-95 mustang? I have a 03 gt, I would like to know how you take the wheel off? I want to keep the air bag in tack. I know by discontecting the battery the airbag is still active for atleast 30 minutes. Should I take it to the dealer ship? Anyone done this yet?

There are no aftermarket wheels that keep the air bag intacted. You can install an aftermarket wheel without the air bag, but it is against the law to be driven on the street if the car was originally equipped with an airbag.

Not sure why you want to change it, most every car I have seen that had an aftermarket wheel, looked retarded. The wheel would be the wrong size, the wrong color, the wrong design. Just didn't look right. I like the factory wheel it's thick and it allows for good feedback without the feeling to light.

NO its not ricey in my eyes. I put a grant wheel in my 89 LX it looks so much hotter than stock. But as for my 03 GT I got a recaro racing shell in it and me feet are perfect distance from the pedals, but the wheel is to far away from me, I want to move it like 2" closer to me. I know If I bought like a sparco racing wheel http://www.sparcousa.com/steering_comp.asp I could get a spacer and a quick release for it. Also I could get the wheel smaller so its quicker with reponses and so it clears my legs better.

Thanks SilverGT I didnt know that it was illegal to take out the factory airbag. That really sucks. I like the wheel but I wish I could move the steering wheel like 2" closer. Thats the reason behind my question.

I have a racing steering wheel installed on my 85 jeep cj-7. I can drive it legally on the roads since it never camewith airbags but otherwise i dont think its legal. I agree it mightlook bad in the stang, but it matches my interir on my jeep since i redid the whole interiorweit new seats and floors for my offroading and stuff. Not sure how to undo the steering wheel on the stand, since my jeep was very much differnt. If ya do get one instealled for one reason or another, ied like to see a picture.
