Do Chips Really Work?
Hi, I got a 97 Gt Auto, with the typical mods of a cold air and a cat back. Just wondering ifanyone has used a VENOM 400 Performance Control Module or other power programmer/chips. I found this one onsummit, and it claims 25% more horse for about $300. I find this hard to believe, but if its true I think it would worth it. If anyone has had any experience with these please let me know.
I have a Kenne Bell switch chip, and when they tuned my car at murrilo motorsports. They programed afew different tunes for me. Theres a switch that i can use to cycle through tunes, from a basic tune all the way up to a high octane only race tune.
You will probably have to run 91+ octane if you do end up going with an aftermarket chip. Most of the time they will bump the timing, so you might need to run a cooler thermostat. Have you looked into handheld tuners that let you make adjustments as you add boltons.

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Ok this is how the Venom works. It makes it so you're at full throttle sooner than normal. So you feel faster but you aren't faster. You just get to full throttle faster so it feels like you have more power. . . its just 25% sooner than normal. But then you're already at full throttle so when you press down more on the gas nothing happens. Its a rip off. Turbonator also claims 30 rwhp too. But that doesnt mean its true!

yeah im still using my stock ford TB and my car runs great, Im no where near the power level of needing a bigger one. My fav mod so far was installing a slightly weaker throttle return spring
from my experience i have to say it works..... when i had my 'stang stock i'd race my friends '01 gt and we'd be neck to neck then i added the diablo sport chip i would kick my friends2001 gt by at least 3/4 of a car length.......
