Default Do Chips Really Work?

Hi, I got a 97 Gt Auto, with the typical mods of a cold air and a cat back. Just wondering ifanyone has used a VENOM 400 Performance Control Module or other power programmer/chips. I found this one onsummit, and it claims 25% more horse for about $300. I find this hard to believe, but if its true I think it would worth it. If anyone has had any experience with these please let me know.

I have a Kenne Bell switch chip, and when they tuned my car at murrilo motorsports. They programed afew different tunes for me. Theres a switch that i can use to cycle through tunes, from a basic tune all the way up to a high octane only race tune.
You will probably have to run 91+ octane if you do end up going with an aftermarket chip. Most of the time they will bump the timing, so you might need to run a cooler thermostat. Have you looked into handheld tuners that let you make adjustments as you add boltons.

Yes, I have to look into handheld tuners in more depth. Also Up to 25% more horses is probably for a more modified car that has now been tuned for its full potential.

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Ok this is how the Venom works. It makes it so you're at full throttle sooner than normal. So you feel faster but you aren't faster. You just get to full throttle faster so it feels like you have more power. . . its just 25% sooner than normal. But then you're already at full throttle so when you press down more on the gas nothing happens. Its a rip off. Turbonator also claims 30 rwhp too. But that doesnt mean its true!

A hand held tuner is a different story like Diablo or SCT. They work good. Dyno tunes work the best. But the "venom" module is a pos

This is also very much what an oversized throttle body does (in excess of your engine's needs). If you go bigger than you need, you simply end up at WOT with less pedal, with the remain pedal travel doing nothing but possibly confusing the computer. The car feels very responsive when just cracking the throttle open during normal driving, but you'll be depressed when you find out there's nothing more to get from pressing the pedal farther. (Just thought I'd make the note - had a similar conversation with a friend recently after he was so excied about his new 85mm or whatever TB on a mostly stock car)
