Default rollcage

hey guys, last time i was at the track i cut a 13.4. this was my first time sprayin and when i got back to the staging lanes i got flagged. they told me i needed a cage past 13.5 and a helmet to run 13s.

so........ how do i go about this cage thing, im not asking how to install it because i will be welding it in my self. what i need to know is do i have to have someone come and approve it or does it just have to be installed the next time i come to the track. note, when i finally get done doing everything i need this car will be running low 10s so thats what im going to need it to be approved for.

i think you just have to have a approved roll cage. they should inspect it at the track

Beginning Jan. 1, 2005, a roll bar and an SFI 16.1 driver-restraint system will be mandatory on any vehicle running 11.49 or quicker and for convertibles running 13.49 or quicker. An SFI 3.2A/1 jacket will he mandatory for all drivers in vehicles running between 10.00 and 11.49 seconds. On any car running 11.49 or quicker, a flywheel and clutch meeting SFI Spec 1.1 or 1.2 and a flywheel shield meeting SFI Spec 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, or 9.1 will be mandatory. A driveshaft loop will be required on all cars running 13.99 or quicker and utilizing slicks, except vehicles equipped with street tires running 11.49 or slower.......a helmet if quicker than 13.99

If I were you (which I'm not) I wouldn't worry about the cage yet, I'd find another track. Or keep going to that track and play around until your ready to put down some good numbers, then get kicked off.
Also what do you plan on doing and how much do you plan on spending to get into the low 10's?
What is the DA when you ran your 13.4? Not to be rude but your times are slow for your mods (unless it's only a small shot, and a really high DA). I guess what I'm asking is what do you plan on doing to drop 3+ seconds off your time when you already have a power adder?

+1 That's what I'd do if I was in your shoes. It's not as fun, but it's cheaper than buying a cage

ive looked around and cages arent all that expensive and i will be installing it myself.

and by the way my time sucked because it was my first time using nitrous at the track, the third time ever on this car, i run street tires so i have a shtty launch, and it was drizzling at the track but they let us run anywayz. and considering ive seen a couple supercharged people on here only running 13.5s i think my 13.4 was pretty respectable. and notice i dont have any engine mods. the only thing i have that could possibly increase horsepower to a remotley noticeable amount is my x pipe. i run my tuner on the 87 tune to back the timing down so thats really not giving me any power.

and also i just slapped the nitrous on my car because i already had it from my previous car. ive been kicking around some ideas for when i get done UTI and i think i decided on a forged 5.4 shortblock, 03-04 cobra heads, the reichard racing adapter plates and the 03-04 cobra supercharger assembly or maybe an upgrade, and before you say the 03-04 cobra supercharger sux, yes it does suck on the 4.6 but should produce better gains on the 5.4.

do you plan on using the car as a daily driver? Do you ever plan on riding with anyone in the back seat? If you answer yes to either of those questions, I wouldn't do it. I can't believe (not that I don't believe, it's just crazy) that the track is that strick there... would they let you get away with a 4pt bar? Actually I can't believe they are that stupid at the track to want to make a mid 13 second car use a cage, but they'll let you run down a wet track.
