max horse power on stock block
Here's something I don't understand: what is meant when someone says "block" horsepower? Is that the actual block, or the block and the internals? And I've heard the same thing defconfire has about the limit: about 400 hp. I just don't know exactly what that means
The confusion I think comes when people ask how much the shortblock can take. A shortblock includes the internals. The internals of a GT, exactly as defconfire said, can take about 450 RWHP as long as you have a good tune, however I agree with him again saying that I would stick conservatively to not much more than 400. If you swap the internals you can get a lot more out of the block itself. I don't know the actual block's numbers, but if I had to take a guess I'd say it can probably handle 700-800. That's just a guess though so don't bet your car on it.
Our blocks can handle whatever you throw at it. I've read about 750 rwhp engines that held up just fine. That would be over 800 at the flywheel. The stock rods are made out of bubble gum though.
It's not that bad. THR has built two twin turbo gts with the stock crank still in that made 700 rwhp that are still running. I asked them if they had ever broken a stock crank or seen or heard of anyone doing it and they said no.
