start up problem

Default start up problem

well like the title says.. i dont know if it is the battery or the alternator or maybe something else.. i cant start it with just a key. I tried to jump it but it starts and runs for one minute and then dies.. even when with the jumper cables still attached it ticks and doesnt start. has this happened to anyone.. can someone please help me out!!

Well, most of the places where they sell batteries, they can check the voltage of your battery. The best and in my opinion "easiest" way would be to bring your battery there and to have them check if it's still good.

If it's still good, then it's probably your alternator. If not, then replace your battery and you're good to go.

There's also a test you can probably do in your driveway but I don't really know the exact steps so I'll someone else give advice on that matter.

Do you own or have any expierience with a voltage meter? If so you check the voltage your battery is giving you. Then start your car and check what the alt. is giving you, while youre doing that give the car some gas and see if it moves on up to about 14 vlts. i think... if it does go up when you give it a little throttle then your alt. is good.


Another thinkg you might want to do is take your terminal connections off and clean them... check them and make sure they are tight.
