Default My car is wicked bad in the rain

I know Mustangs aren't the best in the rain, but I think mine is really bad. I just want to know if this is normal because I sure as hell don't think it is...

When I drive in the rain my car fails to accerlate at times, back fires a lot, and sometimes on the worst occasion will shut off. Now I avoid puddles like Britany Spear's avoids a diet, but my car seems to be acting like it just came out of the ocean. My car was lowered but I got it raised back up and the exhaust on it is BBK Shortys-Pypes Catted X- Pypes Violator, if it matters.

Any tips/explainations would be useful

Do you have some sort of a "ram air" system?

If he isn't hitting puddles I do not think he could be getting in water. Unless a genius set it up so his CAI housing retains waters or something stupid like that.

I am thinking there is some exposed wires in your harness somewhere, and when it rains it gets wet and starts shorting.

My brother's '99 GT did this, it was water getting in to the crankshaft position sensor--dried it out good and used RTV sealant to seal it up...

It could definitely be something else, CAI is just the common thing that people will look at first. Remember that there is a difference in a CAI and a RAI. CAI is in the fender and isn't too extremely hard to get wet. I know as hard as it rained here the last few days, I wouldn't have wanted to drive my Cobra because of it's CAI. (Among other reasons, haha)

But yeah, if you don't think that and you think it's wiring or something like that, that's going to be a pain in the *** to find where the problem is unfortunately.

Nice britney spears referance. My car got water in where the coil packs were and it caused a whole world of pain everytime it rained. I know this happening with a lot of other ppls stangs too and my parents 2000 5.4 Sexpedition does it too
