Whats the most rwhp you can get out of a auto trans without messing it up? on a 2002 gt

a friend of mine ran 412rwhp from a kenne bell through his 4R70W for 2 years and it hasnt blown up yet... not sure on the max they can handle though, but somehow 500 hp seems to be clicking in my head?

 

I heard HEARD the 4R70W are pretty stout, what power levels are you looking for?

 

Well I dont know the max on them but I do know that its a common swap for hoped up cobras and they last.

 

thats a good tranny if you take care of it and dont beat it tooo hard. I dont see why 450 or 500 at the wheels would be out of the question

However, at those power levels i think it might be on borrowed time, especially if you like to drive like me

 

im just looking to put a couple more thing on my car. After that ill be around 410-415 to the wheels so i was just making sure that it will hold up. I dont drive stupid that much. I go out on some weekends and to the track sometimes so i hope it will be ok.

 

You shouldnt have any problems with it with 410-15, i know a few people with well over 500 and theres seems to be holding up to the abuse just fine. Also you should look into a transgo shift kit, it will decrease gear overlap while increasing the life of your transmission. Your shifts will also have alot more bite!!!

 

idk but i must have bad luck cuz i got an 02 gt and i first blew my overdrive and 3rd gear on my auto a year ago, and i have about 300rwhp and now i have problems again but thats probably cuz the tranny guy f***ed me over lol
