Default GT auto trans

I've been trying to find this information on Google, but I'm not having much luck. How much HP/TQ can the 99-04's V8 transmission hold? I'm looking at adding a Vortech supercharger, headers, and an exhaust to my DD.I just want to make sure I'm not going to overheat and blow out the trans. Any recommendations?

For those of you that are going to ask why an auto. Before you do, I just had ankle surgery and it will be quite some time before I'm really able to use my left leg/foot again.

I've seen it posted and have read that they should be able to handle 450 - 500 hp. I would definitly upgrade the tranny cooler though.

Yeah, I figured they could hold a decent amount. I'm not looking to push past 350. A trans cooler will definitely be installed. I had friends with upgraded 300ZX TT's and if they wouldn't have had one...it would've gotten ugly.

If you want it to last, throw in a built converter/cooler/valvebodyand custom tune. It will hold upwards of 450+rwhp and last a fairly long time with routine trans fluid chages.

I had a feeling valvebody upgrades and tune might be necessary. I know from working with a few Z's that the valve body can't hold too much boost on them. Any idea of shops I could get one from? Since I'm moving away from Detroit, I'm out of contact with the shops that I normally do business with.

Jeg's actually has quite a few. I didn't find any that were specific to the Mustang trans however. They all appear universal.

www.bc-automotive.com Check out this site and call Darrin for any auto ?'s you may have. He's one of the best builders of 4r70w's and their valvebodies. He uses "Dirtydog" to build the converters and highly recommends "truecool" trans coolers/40,000gvw to cool them. Check out the guys over at www.mach1registry.com and ask how good this guy is, havent read of one unhappy customer yet.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah, I was thinking AODE. I'm still trying to get adjusted back into Mustangs. Been working on Nissans and Hondas for far too long.
