ok guys, I have a project that is a 96 GT and Im putting in a 97 GT engine w/ 70k miles.

What all would you guys recommend replacing while the engine is out? I'm thinking at least the water pump, and any other thoughts would be great.

how much hp will that get me? Would that run me about 1500 for PI Heads and Intake?

70K miles. Rebuild it first.

If you look around you can find some good deals on PI stuff. I just bought a set of PI heads, cams, and intake for 200 bucks. They have 30k on them. Then gaskets and misc. stuff will be another 200.

you can get pi stuff for decent prices. im sellin some pi cams unless you go aftermarket

I saw 72 rwhp more with a stock PI swap and light tune.

The swap is definitely worth your time. That or just buying a pi engine. Replacing a npi engine with a npi engine is kinda pointless when you can get pi stuff for so cheap. If you are interested, I have a 96 GT engine with the pi swap already done that I am looking to sell cheap. Engine has about 75k on it as well. The heads have only been on the car for about 5k miles. I had them looked over buy a machine shop before they were installed. PM if you are interested.
