Default good idea

i was thinking about getting a fox but i like the looks of the sn95 better... i am looking at getting a 96-98 gt and this was my idea
-shorty headers $300
-cat back $400
-cai $100
-373's ($400 installed)
-lightened flywheel $400
-24#'s injectors $200
-70mm throttlebody $200
+ car $5000

=$7000

is there anything that im not thinking about assuming the brakes and the tires are fine and nothing needed to be replaced? and do you think i could be around 240RWHP

i wouldn't worry too much about the shorty headers or the flywheel. i know it's rotational mass, but IMO 400 just isn't really worth it. Take that money and get a really good tune, you'll notice a lot more gains that way, especially after you get the other bolt ons you listed. everything else sounds pretty good, except for most people will tell you to go with 4.10 gears, unless you plan on putting a lot of power down later, or your tires suck or some other factor you haven't mentioned here.

The rest of the mods sound ok, but you won't be at 240. You're probably putting down about 195 ish stock, and there is no way that those mods will give you 40+ rwhp. you might have like 220 or something. IMO save your money

shorty headers will not get you 5-8 RWHP. they might get you that at the crankshaft on a good day. a good tune can get you over 10 hp at the wheels

Sounds like a start but think about a PI swap also

a pi swap is switching the non PI heads that came on the 96-98 GT to the PI (Performance Improved) heads that came on the 99-04 GT. they flow a lot better and give you more horsepower.

Your plan looks good wrote out, but I believe the practical aplication will be something else.

My NPI put down 188 rwhp with a mid pipe, cat back, intake, and a 70mm throttle body. The NPI's are slow as $hit. Save your money and do the PI swap. It consists of changing the heads, cams, and intake manifold. If you want to save some money then just do PI cams and the intake manifold. Each can be had for about $100 a piece. If you get Romeo PI cams the install is so much easier. You can swap the cams and intake manifold in about 5 hours if it's your first time. You'll usually get about 45 rwhp with cams and intake manifold swap and a tune.
