Ruh Roh !!!UPDATE!!!!
Tired of seeing me yet??? [8D] Please dont answer that..........
Found out what that "gravel" noise was. Got off work, banged/pulled on the exhaust, nothing loose. Fired it up, heard the noise immediately. I look under the car, nothing. Go towards the front of the car, and there she was. My dam serpintine belt has shredded, and the "shreds" were flapping against something at the very bottom of the motor, right under the bottom pully.
Is this commonly the way these belts go? The only time I have experienced this was when the belt just kinda broke, never really had one shred to pieces like this. Im hoping that I just caught it before it really went to ****, and that this isnt the product of something else going on.
Thanks for all the help on my other thread. Well, hell, any of them........

It's no big deal. Just a belt that's seen better days. I've replaced mine before. About the only problem I've had out of my car has been the intake and the tensioner...the bearings went out and it locked up wich snapped my belt, but it needed replacing anyway.
'preciate it catch......................Now I have a ton of ?'s for you, if you dont mind.........
1. Do you have any times on your car?? I have the intake swap already, and plan on going with a similar "setup" as you.
2. How did the MSD coil packs work for you? I was just looking at those yesterday.....
3. pi cams..........touchy subject or care to enlighten??
Sorry and thanks [8D]

First, no I don't have any times for my car. The closes track to me is about an hour away and I've never made an effort to take it there.
The coil packs helped me a bunch. I put them on about 2,000 miles ago when I had about 106,000 miles. My factory packs weren't holding up anymore. The MSDs smoothed out the idle and got rid of the miss/hesitation I had at about 1/2-3/4 throttle. Worth every penny.
And the PI cams...well I don't know what to say about that. When we were installing them, the passenger side went in with no problems whatsoever. When we got to the driver's side and bolted the girdles down on the PI cam, it's as if the cam was too skinny for the head. A good friend of mine helped me, he is a Ford tech, and we were both at wits end as to why that happened. We took it back out and tried again thinking something wasn't seated correctly, and it did the same thing. Well, we put it all back together and fired it up and I could tell as I was starting it that something was up, because it sounded like it had lost a lot of compression. As it was running, you could hear a top-end knock...it was the cam moving around in the journals. So we put the NPI cams back in, and I'm going to get around to it in the spring again and see what I can do about it. I've talked to plenty of people who have done the swap and not had any problems out of it, so I don't know what the deal is.

thanks man. Im gonna eventually do the whole swap. Theres a complete set of heads for sale for $330 shipped. I could only pull a best of 9.71 @ 74mph 2.4 60' [:'(] I did have about 4-5 runs in the 77mph traps, but ALL my 60's sucked......
My brother pulled a 9.58 out of her, 2.24 60, so who nows where shes really at right now.

Yeah, the 60' is tough without a good launch. It'd be piontless for me to go to a track right now because I have some worn out 245s out back...I can't hook up to save my life. I'm getting some 315s in the spring and I'll prolly take to the track. The one by me is a 1/4 track. But as far as the swap, the only reason I didn't do the whole swap is because I didn't want the bump in compression, but if that doesn't bother you, than the whole swap is the way to go. And if you have a lot of miles on your car, I'd definately reccomend the MSD packs, they help a bunch.
I love the 3.73s...I had 3.55s and the difference was actually pretty noticable. The feeling goes away though. Now I want 4.10s lol. Just get 4.10 and be done with it. Our engines need those high rpms to make power and 4.10s will really help if you don't do a lot of high speed highway driving. Some people just don't feel comfortable turning 3,000 rpms on the highway....it's up to you.
