Default easy fan toggle switch?

okay, so i've been looking at some of the radiator fan toggle switch how-to's i found on google, and all seem to be kinda complicated.

i was wondering if i could just do it a quick simple way of something like.

big fuse -> switch -> fan red

and just cut the orange wire off the fan connector... would that work?

or maybe just wire the orange wire (which im suspecting is the relay wire asthe other 2 are red and black) into the switch?

If you are talking about putting in a switch so you can turn you fan to high speed when you want then you have to tap into the computer. It is very easy and only takes about 30 min. Right now I can't remember the pin number (I think its 46) but its a light green andpurple wire. Just put a quick connect on that wire and run it to the switch. Run the other end of the switch to ground. DO NOT try to tap into the wires near the fan you can send a power serge to the ecu and fry it.

here is a diagram for you.
NOTES FOR 4.6L SOHC and DOHC
Hook into pin#46 on the PCM, that is located behind the passenger side kickpanel. Once you tie into that pin all you do is run it to the toggle switch, and run the other side of the switch to ground.

so, pull out the ecu, remove the massive connector, and tap in to pin 46?

which one is 46?

would it be the same as in the mark VIII?

No light green with purple. Pin #46 look at the pin out it has numbers on it you just have to count the pins.

You better make sure. You ground the wrong wire and you will be buying a new ecu.

ok, it was the right one, good deal, thanks haha, saved me a whole lot of hassle.

original plan was to cut the ecu out of the equation completely.
