Well I'm not sure if this is the "most approved way" but this is how I did it. I bought some play-doh and flattened it out and placed it on top of the piston. Then I torqued down the heads with the old bolts and set up the timing and turned the engine over a few times. Then I unbolted the heads and measured the thickness of the play-doh where the valves hit it with a micrometer. I can't remember off the top of my head what the measurements are suppose to be though.

Thats the way my dad did it when he helped me swap the heads on my 351w in my truck.

Well I have a 96 short block and I had ptv problems with my PI swap. I didn't degree my cam which I know can make a big difference but I had problems with my SHM stage 1 cams.

Well I'm not sure you're going to want to do what I did. I was in a hurry and did some afro engineering. Most people just have the pistons fly cut but I didn't want to wait that long so I came up with something else. I had a junk set of pi head laying around and I took the valves and sharpened and made cuts into them to make a cutting tools. Then I bolted down the head and put the valve into my drill and cut my own valve reliefs.... It worked but it's kinda ghetto.

yea i dont think im gonna have that done but as long as it worked. im thinkin about buying this kit that way i can run some more nitrous down the road since its all forged and i will have my block bored .020 over and thats what this kit is made for. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-6-F...spagenameZWD1V
