Do short throw shifters put third and fifth and closer to the driver?

i think it depends on the adjustment you have on whatever shifter you get, but i think the idea behind a "short" shifter is to give you a short throw into all gears.

I just installed a Hurst Billet/Plus shifter, what a difference from the stock. love it !!
