well guys.. i went back out this week to try to run a bit better than my 14.4 and i did... 14.3.. lol the car doesn't come out strong and i think it holds it in 1st way too long, it's almost at 6K before it shifts. so i might set my shift point from 1-2 at like 5k or 4800.. but anyway

i got a new stall converter in that should be around 2500-2700 yet the car tries to creep at around 2. i'm using BFG 275/50/15 drag radials with no wheel spin but - it just is so slow off the line. i'm cutting 2.0 - 2.1 60's, the same as my street tires did!

is the stall TOO low? or what? should i go to 3000 ? 3200 ?

With an Auto, 3.73's and low horsepower I doubt it gets much better. Actually the E.T. ain't that bad for what it is[8D]

 

I know of a local guy who is running an auto npi car, went 13.3 last year at norwalk with little done to it:

Circle-D Specialties Billet 4000rpm stall torque converter
4.10's
j mod
full suspension
BFG d/r
and basic bolt-on's (-LT's)with a pi intake/cams and a tune.


He's looking for 12's this coming year. I would step up in gear and go with a high stall, that should help quite a bit.

you should definately be running a bit better, unless its hotter andmore humid than anything ive ever been in, every time that you run

ive got 13.8's with 2.0 60' times with just gears and a partial exhaust in my 99....
you should have more power and with that 60', 13.6's or 13.7's should be fairly feasible

 

3.73's and an auto ain't helpin. 4.10's would be a better chioce.

 

From what I see in his mods , he still has non-PI heads and cams so he'd be lucky to see ~200rwhp through that Auto. That along with a near useless stall and not near enough gear is killing him.

The 14.30 is a good time for an npi auto.

 

actually the car put down right at 230 rwhp so.. :| and the car is spinning the tires off the line - the main cause i think is it's shifting out of 1st at right around 5800-6K i.e. holding itself into 1st too long in rpms with no power.

 

Hmmmmmmmmm....you said "with no wheel spin" , so I'm not sure what to think now. Also that must be one of those "friendly" dynos if your combo made 230rwhp. I'd like to see the dyno sheet on that one
