engine codes
ever since i put on my o/r mid pipe my CEL has been on. No big deal because it is expected. When i did the install i didnt reconnect the rear O2 sensors, instead i just used them as bung fillers since the wires werent long enough. I didnt bother reconnecting them because i was under the impression that if you can turn them off with a hand held then i dont need to worry about them working and i can just deal with the CEL. So for the heck of it yesterday i went to get my codes checked because if anything was wronge i really wouldnt know because the CEL is always on. These are the codes i got: P2270 P2272 P2272 P0161 P0141.
Im assuming that P2270 and P2272 came up because the rear o2's arent connected. But i dont know what i got 2 P2272's, maybe the tech printed off too many, and i also dont understand what the other codes mean. They say something about the air/fuel being lean, is this true and should i worry about that? Its not a heavily modded car, just prochamber and mac catback.

lol its bc u hav 02 disconnected your whole car reading wrong....if u turn them off woth a tuner its really sending a fake message to pcm saying the 02's are reading within specified range...then everything else will b adjusting right......what the rear 02's do is make sure cats are working and all that....also maybe ur front ones are screwed up to now because of not getting a good reading from the back ones...your car doesnt know what to do right now...get MIL elminators or turn them off with a tuner and clear codes and you shouldnt have any trouble
i mean its not bad for your car....but if ur comp think its always running lean..your dumping more fuel...running richer prob but ur comp thinks your lean.... but if your comp thought u were running rich when you werent and leaned the car out more...then youd have a problem..bc ud be taking fuel away from the car when it really needs the fuel....so i mean ur not going to blow up or nothing...ur just wasting gas
do you have a tuner??
do you have a tuner??
no i was thinking of getting one i just didnt think i had enough mods to make any use of it. I cut the wires to the o2's so what if i get some extra wire and reconnect them and dont run mils or dont have a programmer. Im still gonna have the cel but would that help the engine balance itself out?
um if you connect the rears and dont turn it off or dont get mil eliminators it will show the two codes for those o2 sensors and it wouldnt show other ones...now idk if unpluggin them will throw the others but it shouldnt if they were connected without eliminators, usually the lean ones are up front and maybe you have a leak and frsh air is gettin past the front o2s thinkin its lean this happened to my v6 stang trhen i used rtv sealer and it fixed it
