Default Radio Problem

1998 mustang gt has the stock mock 460 system in it the radio comes on and plays music really quiet. you have to get right on the speaker to hear it. any ideas? I already replaced the back two amps.
Help would be great thanks.

are you sure amp connections are good? also do you have a mute/silence mode on the headunit? make sure all the wires are tight on the back of the unit or any other connection you see.

The only amps are in the back of the trunk right under the rear speakers. There should be two small ones. And if they got wet your car would have been under some serious water. What types of amps did you replace the stock ones with.

I got some stock replacments for it. They were exactly like the old ones I could not find any wires loose around the headunit.

Dumb question but did you check the bass and treble settings on the radio?

I am assuming that you are talking about your factory head-unit, not aftermarket? If your Mach 460 is like mine in my 2000 GT you should actually have three amps. The two in the rear only power the rear speakers. The third amp is in the head unit and it powers the front speakers and may also possibly feed signals to the rear amps. Hope this helps.
