The anwser to this question is the computer. They did a little bit of retuning in the computer to get the extra 10 ponys out of it.

I belived i read it in MMFF a while back when they had all the stuff about the 2v modular bulid up thing. I think it was in one of the articles about where they got the engine.

Pfft...it's just the coolness points...

And there's a sticker on the frame that gives that extra boost

well in the chilton's manual is shows that the Compression of the 96-97 gts were 9.5:1, but noce it hit the 98 gt's they bumped it down to 9.0:1 compression, so that could be a possiblility, but the bore and stroke and everything else in between are all the same, so like 4.698gt said, it probably was a computer tweak that did it, o and also the 98 gt has 5 ft. lbs. more torque than the 96-97's lol and this could also be taken into consideration, gas octane, who klnows they might have bumped up the octane rating for some reason when they tested it, but i guess we will never really know

So how much does the fox body have HP wise? I thought it was 225 stock... lets just say 87-93 GT? I think it would be pretty gay if they didn't add anything to up the HP from 87 all the way until 98 with a body change?

Well, I know they changed their HP rating technique in 93, so that was the HP change that showed on paper, but acutally they maintained the exact same HP. Wonder if they changed it back around 98 to up the HP a tad?? I want to see something official........NOW!!!.......lol

well my handy dandy MSN autos says......

The fox bodies have

1993===205hp*
1992===225hp
1991===225hp
1990===225hp
1989===225hp
1988===225hp
1987===225hp

*Note that in 93 they made the cobra too which had a whapping 235hp LOL
