Default question about starter removal

i have a 97 mustang gt and i'm trying to replace the starter. my last bolt on the topis too hard to find or reach. i'm thinking of taking it to the shop but the maechanic said he would have to lift up my engine. can anyone tell me how to get this bolt or tell me is this true about liftingup my engine?

How I got to that bolt is with the socket, universal, and extension going toward the front of the car. As far as lifting the motor, may make it easier, it's only takes one nut removed to lift up the passenger side motor of the car. I can't remember honestly if I had my engine lifted already or not because I was doing the tranny swap and that's the reason why I took the starter off to begin with.

I usually take off the pass side mount. It just makes it alot easier.

It will come out without having to jack up the engine. I had to use several extensions as well, and come from the front of the car. Dont pay to have it done.

Are you guys serious? Jacking up the motor, loosening the motor mount, taking it to a shop?!?! Why does everyone have a problem with this bolt? Is it just me or am I the only one who can get the starter out in under 5 minutes?

You're a mechanic, right? I think it's just since we turn wrenches all day we just have an easier time with **** like that (I'm a mechanic, too).

I find it easier to take off the passenger front tire and do all the work in the wheel well. That bolt really is easy once you think outside the box to get it out. And lift the engine up WTF?
