Default startup issues

Hey guys, I need some help. My car just started doing this yesterday. It will fire up just fine, but as soon as it fires up its almost like the computer kills it. The starter will turn the engine over, but as soon as it fires up it dies. If I hit the gas right when it starts I can get it to stay running. Any advice?

After a little research I found that my car could be running rich after my L/T install. If my car is running rich could this cause it to flood when it starts up? I was under the impression that a FI motor didn't flood. Since the engine starts up in Open Loop I'm gonna try using the diablo to lean out the mixture in open loop (WOT). Hopefully this will work. No advice from anyone on this???

IWOULDNOT lean it out unless you have a wideband to monitor the a/f ratio . can you do any datalogging w/ your diablo .

Leaned it out a little this morning. Same result. This time it turned over, then backfired and died. I guess after class I'll take it to ford, and see what's wrong. This is my DD so I'm in a bind if they can't find out what's wrong real quick. I don't think the o2 sensors are bad because I'm not getting a cel. Come on guys I'm not the only one that's had this problem. Someone help me out here.

My Diablo doesn't allow fuel adjustments below 2K.

Is the OBD II throwing any codes?

If it was exceffively rich it would throw a code, also the extreme rich condition will kill your O2 sensors.

I'll check for codes when I get out of class. I'm gonna go home and take a look at the plugs and change them out. Still no luck and I'll go to ford.

If you can run it with giving it a little gas on startup, check for vac leaks and clean your IAC.

Sounds like the IAC stuck closed to me.

I had the same problem but it turned out being my computer. I hope this is not what it is because a new computer is EXPENSIVE. But, check codes.

Well i apologize i forgot what it is called. but in your fuel pump there is a guage that tells the engine how much gas or how little gas. i had to replace it in my car it only cost about 40$. but the same thing was happening to mine. but it eventually got so bad to where it wouldn't start. i can't remember what it is called for the life of me though sorry...
