Default New shocks?

So I went to Les Schwab to get my flat replaced and ended up needing new rear tires. Purchased those and upon leaving they tagged a price quote on to the invoice for 4 new shocks due to leakage.

Heres what the invoice reads:
2x G67681 Gas Strut Assembly
2x 89908 Gas Shock

Now I'm somewhat skeptical about the estimate because every time i go there, there's always something that needs to be replaced. What should I look for to see if this is true or not, I can post pics aswell if you want a visual.

Thanks.

Default RE: New shocks?

Jack the car up and crawl under to see if you can actually see the leaks, if you do, wipe them down and drive it for a couple hundered miles and crawl back under and check to see if the leaks are back.

My brother went to Midas and actually saw a mechanic take and squirt oil all over his struts and shocks while getting a muffler replaced. When he got the bill for the muffler and reccommended fixes he told them to stick it and wipe the fresh oil they just squirted all over his parts. He then reported them to the BBB.

Also to see if your struts an shocks are bad bounce the front or rear end and see if it bounces once or more times, if it goes down and comes back up just once it is more then likely fine, if it goes up and down more then once they're bad.
