Default Does this sound right?

Yesterday I went to visit a shop I was recomended to do the installation of my PI cams. So I go up there to him and explain that what I want done is to install my PI cams and degree them. He then said that in order to do this he likes to completely pull the motor in order to degree them correctly. Did a lot of you guys who installed/degreed your cams pull the entire motor? It just didnt seem right to me...thanks guys

You don't have to pull the motor. If you got Romeo cams you don't even have to pull the timing cover. Take it to a shop that knows mod motors.

There are alot of shops that WILL NOT do cams without pulling off the timing cover and in turn yanking the motor. If they are not degreed right you are gonna have problems, it can be a crap shoot to get em' right!

yes they are Romeo cams...

thats what the guy was telling me that in order to get the cams degreed exact that you have to pull the motor and be able to get eye level with the wheel. He showed me what he was talking about with a pulled motor and it made sense, i just didnt expect a shop to go this route because obviously im going to pay a lot to have him pull the motor just to install cams.

why would you have to pull the motor for cams?? theres tools to check for top dead center and to tell when the valves are opened all the wayand theres a toolto lock in the timing so nothing slips. i think he was just trying to get alot of cash out of you. its been done many times with out pulling the engine. stay away from him!!!!
