Hard to tell.
Sounds like something in the valve train. Get a long screwdriver. Put one metal end on the valve cover and put your ear up to the handle end. Listen for the banging noise. If it's louder on one valve cover over the other, check in there. If it's about the same on both valve covers then check elsewhere.
