Default Another S/C Thread...

The time has come for the imfamous KB.

My motor just hit 25k miles. Will it be safe to run a constant 6-8 PSI boost without worrying about blowing the engine.. if it is a DD?

Also, If I only plan to run 6-8 psi of boost, do I need to purchase an intercooler? Not unless I plan on doing a few more psi of boost correct?

The kit I plan on buying is the TS1000-99 for ~$3899. It comes with all the needed components such as the manifold, hoses, belts, etc. Other than the kit, and new spark plugs, do I need anything else?

Is there anything else I should know before doing this?

You're right, 6-8 should be fine on the stock block, at 25K miles I would not be worrying about blowing your engine on 6-8 PSI (assuming you got a decent tune). You are going to need it dyno tuned, that's for sure.

what about stock fuel pump and injectors, are they sufficient enough for a S/C?

No, both need to be upgraded. Do a search on this subject and I'm certain you will get tons of information.

If you are buying the kit from K/B it comes with bigger injectors and boost a pump.

you need bigger injectors and better fuel pump(svt pump)also you should consider intercooling it ,those blowers make alot of heat and would run better with an intercooler.make sure you get a good tune as well.

Ok. cahtr6 is correct. The kit does include the bigger injectors and boost-a-pump. What would be the advantages of buying a intercooler now and only running 6-8 lbs of boost?

I got the intercooled kit and i would definatly recommend that. It drastically reduces intake temperature and plus you will net a nice gain in horses with the ability to run more boost without detonation. The kit comes complete. The only thing youll have to buy, or I had to buy...was 3 gallons on anti-freeze, spark plugs, and additional tools i needed along the way
