idk if it will give you that much..maybe 275-280
to get into the 12's you'll need

4.10's
shift kit
cams
heads

intake (wouldnt hurt)
Throttle Body
plenum
Headers
mid pipe

or a supercharger
i cant believe nobody has corrected this... you DO NOT NEED heads, and cams to get into 12s... suspension is the key, hell you dont even have to have full bolt ons really.. justs gears tires a a few suspension mods..maybe a couple boltons and your there with seat time.

You are making a little bit more sense to me. I am a first time mustang owner, but i have followed dragracing at the local track for a while, and im an avid mm&ff reader. I have seen a variety of cars achieving great times just from experience and a good hook-up from the start. i.e. a good suspension. a perfect example is a kid i watched pull off a 14.1, 13.7 and 13.6 consecutively in his daddy's vette, then watching his dad rip off a high 12! seat time can do wonders. His kid couldnt shift or start off without getting sideways. it was humorous.

I think it depends on what your final goal for the car is. If you ever want the car to have 400hp or more, you need to start with a solid bottom end. The bottom end on these cars is quite wimpy and cannot handle much more hp than stock w/ out running the risk of failure. For that much money, I would forge the bottom end. I would then start saving for a super charger or a turbo. You can usually find a used Kenne Bell for around $1500. That would get you into the 12's easy. Don't build it backwards, you'll end up spending more money that way. If you're going to build it, start with the bottom end. You can get a forged rotating assemble from MMR for about $1800. You could do that and still have money for a moderate nitrous kit. Just some ideas.

What does the bone stock GT run? I think you can get there with gears (4.10 or higher) and a good suspension setup and lots of practice. I've seen GT's that only had slicks and gears and exhaustrunning 12's. Slicks w/out a built rear end is not smart though, unless you're looking for a good reason to get a new rearend.

well, basically all i want for now is a car that can hold its own against f-bodys and embarass some ricers, not vice versa. It doesnt need to run 12's and i dont believe in Nitrous use, id rather have the same amount of power there all the time. I love the sound of a blower, as i had one on my ranger and it was sick to say the least. BUT, i also blew my number 5 piston due to detonation even though it was proffessionally tuned by DAN DESIO at PRO DYNO. Hes a good guy but he musta missed something with the tune. Anyway, now im scared of boosting the motor. Even if i did boost it i wouldnt want to change pulleys and add w/m injection to get more boost. 5-8 psi is fine with me. I think 350 at the wheels would be enough to let a vette know whats up. What do you think? I think i may just get a CAI and a CAT Back for now. Then see how i like it. I like the SLP loudmouth series, if i get the cat back and keep the stock hpipe can i upgrade to an xpipe later without changing the cat back?
