Well is it an LS1 or a WS6, I thought those were two different motors... maybe I'm mistaken?

you are... LS1 is the motor, WS6 is the Trans Am with the Ram-Air, which is the same as the Camaro SS

look at it this way, you are sitting on a 4.6L and he has 5.7L. you are going to need something beyond the standard bolt-ons

The ls1 is notan outdated chevy small block its an all aluminumnew design YOU WILL NEED LOTS OF HELP without F/I.The whole part about you having a npi car is not helping. You have 215 hp he has around 350 he also gets all of his torque and hpway sooner than you. F/I would cost you less than building your engine to keep up with his. A 351 might stand a chance but its going to be interesting to say the least. Maybe a pi swap, good tires, gears and nitous could win but thats not cheap either.

you are wrong. Earlier Camaros and Trans Ams had the LT1 motor, the Vette got the LS1 first (in 1997) then the Camaros and TAs got it in 1998. In 01 the LS1's started coming out with the LS6 intake.

ls1's are 99+ f-bodies. lt1's were the previous motors, not sure what years though.
