Default Having Issues with my shifter

Im having some problems getting my stang into gear. When I travel at normal speed and I shift it goes in good. But when I'm driving a bit fast and I try to shift it takes a bit to go in (not the gear) but the shift stick into the column and it takes alot of strength to get it in there. What could this be?

Well if I'm understanding your question right, it sounds like your syncros are shot.

Is that a big job to-do-it-yourself? How exactly do you fix the syncros? and is it expensive?

its not that its such a big job but theres a lot of parts and your probably better off going to a shop. I mean i do most jobs myself but if i needed thm i would go to a shop. Im gonna warn u tho its gonna be mad expensive. They charge like 300 just to see wats wrong. Labor cost so much its crazy. But it sounds like you need it done so ur kinda stuck. im still waiting cause its not that bad. I hav a couple of problems but they one happen once in a while so im probably gonna need a tranny rebuild in the future but i would definatly go to a shop unless you kno a buddy thats done it b4 that would kno wat to do cause u dont wanna screw it up cause if you do ur gonna need to go to a shop any way.

I could'nt have said it better myself. Theres a **** ton of parts in a tranny, you're better off taking it somewhere that you trust and get a warranty!

Great info by the way, I will defenitely do that. I've been doing some research on these transmissions and it seems to be a normal thing for the synchros to go out in these cars. So pretty much the best fix for these is to rebuilt the tranny correct? Damn I didn't want to go through that so soon but I guess I don't have a choice. But I will ride it out until it gets a bit worse I'll just ride it smooth. Thanks guys!!!!

It may not be the syncros, rather shifter bushings... Is there a lot of play in the shifter itself while in gear?? Does it grind at all when goinginto gear??

Actually there is no play on the shifter when in gear and no grinding. Its just hard to push it into gear when I'm going a bit fast. I have to use alot of strength and there is a bit of a pause (2-3 seconds)before in slides into the column like there is something preventing it from going in. But when I drive it at normal speeds its perfectly fine. Also reverse is **** to get into too.
