What's y'alls top speed in an unmodded GT? Just wondering what people have hit. Did a pretty easy 120 tonight on the Highway.

i try not to top out. you never know what might happen.

 

I believe the stock speed limiter is set at 132, this can be removed with a chip or tuner. I have done 110 but those times were on rural roads, and like redGT03 said, you never know what might happen.

 

My guess is in the vicinity of 145mph.

But if you go that fast on a public road in the US, you're a moron. If you really feel the need to try out that kind of speed, find a local race track and drive a car that's set up for it. Like here: http://www.1800bepetty.com/

 

the top speed is 155.......but if you have a tuner you can change it all the way up to 170

but like they said, theres never a point when you want to go 170 on a road in the U.S.A.

 

my 98 has seen 140 a handful of times

I've heard from some people that the speed limiter doesn't work. I'm kinda curious. The top speed is really limited by the rev limiter on 5th gear so if you were to swap in a smaller rear gear (such as 2.73) you could probably get to 200 (ha, going down hill).

 

I have heard that it's 150 but also know of a couple of guys who claim to have exceeded that speed.

There IS a speed limiter and it can be shut off or modified with the predator tuner. I have the predator but I don't feel like I need to shut that off.

Now the traction control....that's GONE! lol. I left the rev limiter on too.
